Instructions:

  1. Download our free patterns below and cut out your paper patterns. Please note for the larger sling bag, there are two PDFs to print. You will seam them at the dotted line with tape since the pattern piece is larger than a sheet of paper.

  2. Select your fabric and lining. Think about having a fun contrast color for your lining!

  3. Pin your pattern pieces onto your fabric with the center line parallel to the selvage edge of fabric (this is the lengthwise direction.)

  4. Cut 2 for your outside fabric (self) and 2 for your inside (lining) fabric.

*optional: you may also cut 2 fusible interfacing if you want your bag to have more shape. Press fusible onto the wrong side of lining

  5. Put right sides together and stitch the two self pieces at the top edge 1/2” from edge. Repeat for your two lining pieces.

  6. Press seams open

  7. Pin the self to lining right sides together along curved sides.

  8. Stitch 1/2” from edge along both curved sides.

  9. Turn right side out and press seams flat

  10. Pin right sides together and stitch 1/2” along the two sides of bag and the bottom of bag (self side); leave lining bottom unstitched

  11. Turn right side out and seams press flat

  12. Pull lining out with the unfinished bottom opening and press 1/2” seam allowance inside for a clean finish

  13. Edgestitch the bottom opening of the lining on the right side of fabric to close up the opening

  14. Push your lining back inside the bag and press all seams flat

  15. Voila, your sling bag is complete!
